Yoga and Ayurveda Tour Package

The term Ayurveda comes from the Sanskrit term “Ayu” meaning “life” and “Veda” meaning “knowledge”. The definite translation of “ Ayurveda” is “knowledge of life” or “right living”.
Ayurveda, the Indian “science of life”, is an ancient system of healing that sees health as our birthright. We are made of elements that create health when well-balanced and disease when imbalanced. Ayurveda’s goal is to help us help ourselves to re-balance and restore health.
Ayurveda teaches a proactive approach to avoiding illness: fresh food, daily exercise, relaxation/stress reduction, and regular cleansing. According to Ayurveda, the five elements (space, air, fire, water, and earth) manifest in each of us in a unique way to give us our physical and mental qualities. These five basic elements then combine into three constitutions or doshas: vata, pitta, and kapha:
Vata -- energy that controls bodily functions associated with motion, including blood circulation, breathing, blinking, and heartbeat. When vata energy is balanced, there is creativity and vitality. Out of balance, vata produces fear and anxiety.
Pitta -- energy that controls the body's metabolic systems, including digestion, absorption, nutrition, and temperature. In balance, pitta leads to contentment and intelligence. Out of balance, pitta can cause ulcers and arouse anger.
Kapha -- energy that controls growth in the body. It supplies water to all body parts, moisturizes the skin, and maintains the immune system. In balance, kapha is expressed as love and forgiveness. Out of balance, kapha leads to insecurity and envy.

Everyone has vata, pitta, and kapha, but usually 1 or 2 are dominant in a particular person. Many things can disturb the energy balance, such as stress, an unhealthy diet, the weather, and strained family relationships. The disturbance shows up as disease. Ayurvedic practitioners prescribe treatments to bring the doshas back into balance.

Yoga is a universally known generic term for the physical, mental and spiritual practices or discipline which originated in ancient India with a view to achieve a state of permanent peace. The word "Yoga" came from the Sanskrit word "yuj" which means "to unite or integrate." This means joining or combining all aspects of the individual - body with mind and mind with soul - to achieve a happy, balanced and useful life, and spiritually, uniting the individual with the supreme. There are 8 disciplines to yoga which must be practiced and refined in order to perceive the true self- the ultimate goal of Yoga:

Yama - Universal ethics: Non-violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, sexual restraint and non-acquisitiveness.
Niyama - Principles of self conduct: purity, contentment, intense dedication or austerity, study of self and scriptures and self-surrender.
Asana - practice of the postures.
Pranayama - Breath control.
Pratyahara - withdrawal and control of the senses.
Dharana - concentration.
Dhyana - meditation.
Samadhi - a state of higher consciousness where the sense of self (ego) dissolves in the object of meditation and the individual self exists in its own pure nature.

According to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the ultimate aim of the yoga is to reach “Kaivalya”(emancipation or ultimate freedom).there are 7 main paths to achieve the ultimate goal of yoga- “Kaivalya”.

Hatha Yoga or Yoga of Postures = This branch of Yoga uses physical poses or Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation to achieve better health, as well as helps you to achieve a peaceful mind and healthy body to go along.

Bhakti Yoga or Yoga of Devotion = Bhakti Yoga is the path of the heart and devotion. Yogis who practice this branch see the "One" or the Divine in everyone and everything. Bhakti Yoga teaches a person to have devotion to the "One" or to Brahma by developing a person's love and acceptance for all things.

Raja Yoga or Yoga of Self-Control = Raja means "royal". This path is considered to be the King of Yoga and this may be due to the fact that most of its practitioners are members of religious and spiritual orders. Raja Yoga is based on the teachings of the eight limbs of Yoga found in the Yoga sutra. this yoga is perfect for the people who wish to learn discipline.

Jnana Yoga or Yoga of the Mind = Jnana Yoga is the path of Yoga that basically deals with the mind, and as such, it focuses on man's intelligence.

Karma Yoga or Yoga of Service = Karma Yoga is the path of service for in this path, it is believed that your present situation is based on your past actions. So by doing selfless service now, you are choosing a future that is free from negativity and selfishness. Karma Yogis change their attitude towards the good and in the process, change their souls, which leads to a change in their destiny.

Mantra Yoga = Mantra yoga involves reciting sacred syllables to reach perfection.

Laya Yoga or Yoga of Service = Laya yoga involves absorption in god to experience ultimate bliss.
